I am teaching a poetry lesson using the lyrics of Hey There Delilah. I was just wondering if anyone more familiar with the song than myself had any ideas to add about the meaning.

Dude this song is so cool. I kinda feel the way the song feels because a girl I like is so far away. It's just so sad, cause everytime I get to see her I get so nervous around her and never get around to talking to her that much.
This song really explains the emotions of longing to see someone that you love but is so far away, but through his words, melody, and lyrics maybe, just maybe she can hear his words of love and passion towards her.
Just my thoughts.

Delilah is a real who really does go to school in NY. I also heard she was an olympic bobsledder. IDK how true that is, but do with it what you will.

Hello! I love this song! I saw it in concert (it was amazing!) the way that tom sings it there is a special connection between him and Delilah. She is out to change the world and once she does it will never be that same, She is one of those people who always has a smile on her face and brights up the room when she walks in. In the beginning of the song she is just a regular girl who tom seems to have a crush on. Then as the song goes on, she is making a difference in tom's life because he wants to change for her. The music video doesn't really show this but the lyrics tell a whole different story,

The song is about Tom falling in love with a girl. The girl all ready has a boyfriend, and she is not interested in Tom so she moves away very far away.

I really love the song. I think because it's simple, it's a hit. It explains how all of us feel at one point in our lives. :)
