Yesterday my phone was acting up and wasn't receiving messages correctly, and then, of course, it froze. Before I could do anything I was given a white screen with one tiny word, "reset." And then I lost my game. My Brickbreaker score was sitting at about 612,000 with 175 lives, which put my world rank at about 330th. Of course, no one will ever know that. It reminded me of something a wise man once said(and I'm paraphrasing): "Son, chances are no matter how hard you try at something, someone somewhere will be better than you at it. You tried your best and failed miserably. The lesson is: 'never try.'" That man was Homer Simpson. But you know what? After wallowing for a few minutes, I've decided to try once more. I'll let you know when it gets good again(right now I'm at about 75,000).
Anyway, some good news...yesterday was our show on the campus of U of I in Urbana-Champaign and it was great. Shows at U of I have special significance for me since I went there for a, well, a really short period of time. I went to the art school and didn't do so well. Within two weeks of arriving in the fall I was missing class on a daily basis and taking the bus home almost every weekend to practice with the band. A few weeks after that I was dropping classes and trying to add replacements, which included Russian Literature and Severe And Unusual Weather. Sociology was all filled up I guess. Now, S & U Weather turned out to be super boring--here I was looking forward to tornadoes, microbursts and cyclones--and instead I got reading temperature charts. Russian Literature ended up being great and got me my lone college level A. So needless to say after one semester I was on academic probation and I was a college dropout by Spring Break. Pretty pathetic huh. But I call it 'My Permanent Spring Break' and it's been lasting ever since, and I know I made the right choice. Always do what you have faith in ya know?
But back to the show, we love the Canopy Club and it was great to have so many people come out, thank you for that. Hopefully we'll be back to U of I in the Spring. And I'll always be an Illini at heart, even if my grades brought the school shame towards their national rankings. It's like my second home-- by the way hello to anyone who lives in Allen Hall. Ok that's all, have a good weekend everybody, almost time to go home for Thanksgiving!
